IDF’s 36th Division uncovers, dismantles four Hamas terror tunnels in southern Gaza

In addition, soldiers from the Golani and 7th Brigades, operating within the division, destroyed dozens of Hamas infrastructure sites containing weapons caches.

Four terror tunnels were uncovered and dismantled by the IDF’s 36th Division troops and the Yahalom unit of the Combat Engineering Corps over the past month, the IDF stated on Sunday.

The mission was carried out in the southern city of Khan Yunis, east of the Yellow Line, in accordance with the US-brokered ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, the military noted.

Troops reportedly located and dismantled above-ground and subterranean terrorist infrastructure used by Hamas terrorists to commit attacks against IDF soldiers operating in the area.

Further, in addition to the four underground routes, soldiers from the 7th Brigade and the Golani Brigade, operating under the 36th Division, dismantled dozens of Hamas infrastructure sites containing numerous weapon caches.

On Sunday, the IDF’s 10th Brigade killed dozens of terrorists and dismantled several terror tunnels while operating behind the Yellow Line in the area of Khan Yunis.

Dismantling tunnels remains top priority, says Katz

Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Saturday that dismantling Hamas’s terror tunnels remains a top priority within Israel’s “yellow zone.”

In October, Katz revealed to US Vice President JD Vance that more than 60% of Hamas tunnels were left undestroyed during the war.

Katz framed tunnel destruction as Israel’s strategic “super goal,” arguing that neutralizing subterranean infrastructure now is essential to prevent Hamas from regrouping under the truce and to set conditions for longer-term security arrangements.
