2025 deadliest year on record for Arab society in Israel, Abraham Initiatives report finds
According to the data, 252 arab citizens lost their lives in 218 incidents of violence and crime, a further increase compared to 2024, when 230 people were murdered.
2025 was the deadliest year ever for Arab society in Israel, according to an annual summary report by the Abraham Initiatives published on Sunday.
According to the data, 252 Arab citizens lost their lives in 218 incidents of violence and crime, a further increase compared to 2024, when 230 people were murdered.
Some 88% of the victims were shot to death, which the NGO noted was evidence of the lethality of firearms and their intolerable availability. More than 72% of those murdered were between the ages of 18 and 40, with more than half aged 18 to 30.
The report indicated that violence has become an ongoing national scourge, harming not only Arab society but Israeli society as a whole.
Murders are occurring at a high frequency, without a basic sense of security, and are accompanied by a deep feeling of abandonment and the absence of an effective state response.
This is a developing story.
