D4vd reportedly removed from ad campaign after dead body discovery
The singer D4vd has reportedly been removed from a campaign by Hollister and Crocs, following the news that the Los Angeles Police Department had found a body inside an impounded Tesla registered to the singer.
Newsweek has reached out to a representative for D4vd, and to Hollister and Crocs outside of regular working hours via email for comment.
Why It Matters
Los Angeles police were called on Monday, September 8, to an impound lot on N. Mansfield Ave., due to a “foul odor,” which was coming from a vehicle, according to a police statement cited by NBC News.

The LAPD previously told Newsweek that detectives had found “possible human remains” and are currently conducting a death investigation, adding that it did not have information on the owner of the vehicle.
The Tesla, which had Texas license plates, was registered to David Anthony Burke, the real name of the singer D4vd, as per Rolling Stone. Citing a report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, the outlet said that the victim was a female in a severe state of decomposition.
NBC News reported that the singer has been informed about what has happened and that he is cooperating with authorities, citing a statement from a spokesperson for him. That statement noted that the singer is still currently out on tour.
What To Know
In a statement given to the outlet Footwear News on Tuesday, Hollister and Crocs said that they would be removing the singer from their campaign, which was released on September 3, with the collection dropping on September 9.
The campaign, dubbed the “Dream Drop,” is the first collaboration between the two brands and featured D4vd.
There are no images of D4vd on the Hollister website or on either brand’s social media pages.
The Hollister x Crocs collab includes six products, three of which are men’s and three of which are women’s.
Both the men’s and women’s products are a clog shoe, a zip-up hoodie, and a pair of sweatpants, with the three products being sold in different colorways, a pink for the women’s collection, and a khaki for the men’s. The women’s shoe and hoodie are both sold out.
On September 5, D4vd shared an image of the campaign to his account on X, where he can be seen wearing the clothes from the men’s collection.
D4vd has more than 33 million users on Spotify, and his songs Here With Me and Romantic Homicide have over a billion streams on the platform. He released his debut album, Withered, in April.
The 20-year-old has continued with his tour since the story about the body broke, having since performed concerts in Minneapolis and Missouri.
There are six remaining dates of his tour in the U.S., in Salt Lake City, Utah, on September 12; Portland, Oregon, on September 15; Seattle, Washington, on September 16; San Francisco, California, on September 19; and Los Angles, California, on September 20.
The tour is then set to move to Europe from October 1 to November 4, and will include stops in Amsterdam, London, and Paris.
