Far-right Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has praised the strike on Hamas leaders in Qatar.
“Terrorists have no immunity and will never have immunity from Israel’s long arm anywhere in the world,” he wrote on X.
He hailed the attack as the “right decision and a perfect execution by the IDF and the Shin Bet,” referring to the Israeli military and Israel’s internal security agency.
The Israeli military said it had struck Hamas’ leadership in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on Tuesday.
According to the Al Arabiya news channel, preliminary information suggested that Hamas chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya had been killed in the attack. There was no immediate confirmation of his death or that of other Hamas officials. Qatar condemned the strike.
Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid also posted on X, calling the attack an “exceptional operation to thwart our enemies.”
