Latest Israeli attacks kill at least 46 people in Gaza, say medics
Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip have killed at least 46 people since early on Saturday morning, medical sources in the sealed-off coastal territory said.
They said 27 people were killed while waiting for food at humanitarian aid distribution points.
According to the United Nations, at least 798 people have been killed at aid distribution centres and around aid convoys in the Gaza Strip since the end of May.
The Israeli military said its own investigation had not found any people who had been killed or injured by Israeli soldiers near the distribution centre in Rafah, in the south of the strip. Reports to this effect would be investigated further, the statement said.
It earlier said it had attacked and killed members of terrorist organizations near Gaza City and Beit Hanoun in the north of the territory in recent days.
The reports from both sides could not be independently verified.
The Gaza war was triggered by the unprecedented attack on Israel by the Palestinian militant group Hamas and other Islamist organizations on October 7, 2023, in which around 1,200 people were killed and more than 250 taken hostage.
Since then, more than 57,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza according to the Hamas-controlled health authority. The figure does not distinguish between civilians and combatants.
