NFL Insider Makes Promising Prediction for Commanders WR Terry McLaurin
When it comes to ongoing storylines in the NFL, Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin sits at the top of the list. As the regular season gets ready to kick off, one insider made a bold prediction about this saga.
Last week, a rather promising development emerged regarding the Commanders’ wideout. He has been taken off the PUP list, which in theory gets him closer to joining his teammates on the field. McLaurin was put on the list when he arrived late to training camp due to an ankle injury.
McLaurin still has work to do before he’s on the field with his teammates, but it’s a step in the right direction. That said, the primary objective for the organization is locking down its homegrown talent and putting an end to this standoff.

NFL insider thinks Terry McLaurin saga could end before Week 1
While McLaurin is progressing physically, he remains at odds with the front office. The two sides have been unable to agree on proper terms for a contract extension, but one insider believes things could work themselves out very soon.
In a recent column for ESPN, Ben Solak touched on his observations from training camps across the league. Among his many stops was Washington, where he was able to provide fresh updates on the disgruntled receiver.
Solak reported what many other insiders have echoed, that being the Commanders have no plans on moving McLaurin despite his trade request. Based on what he heard while at camp, he also made a strong prediction that the veteran wideout will ink a new deal before Week 1.
“Not only can I not find anyone who believes wide receiver Terry McLaurin will play for another team in 2025,” Solak wrote. “I can’t find anyone who has a remotely plausible hypothetical in which McLaurin plays for another team in 2025. This section might better be called one thing I didn’t hear: a way McLaurin actually gets out of Washington. I strongly believe this standoff will end with a compromise extension before Week 1.”

Having no time to work with McLaurin in camp isn’t ideal. That said, resolving things before the regular season begins would be a huge victory for the Commanders. If they want any chance at building off their success in 2024, they’re going to need McLaurin on the field helping elevate quarterback Jayden Daniels.
With just a few weeks to go, only time will tell if Solak’s prediction comes to fruition.
