Prince George’s height compared to Kate catches attention
Prince George’s height aged 12 took royal fans by surprise as he was photographed alongside Princess Kate during a royal engagement and appeared to be only a little shorter than her.
George joined his mother at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Saturday, alongside Queen Camilla and King Charles III, in place of Prince William who had just come home from a visit to Brazil.
They were all attending the Festival of Remembrance, an annual performance in honor of Britain’s war dead held the day before Remembrance Sunday.
Why It Matters
The future king is many years off being a full-time royal, but has started to slowly increase his public appearances and royal fans seemingly feel is growing up.
One clip on X was liked 1,700 times and viewed 45,000 times after being posted with the message: “Prince George is getting so tall! Catherine, The Princess of Wales, and Prince George arrive at the Royal Albert Hall for the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance event.”
What People Are Saying
One user on X commented on a different photo from the event and wrote: “His parents are tall. Both the Prince and Princess of Wales are. In this photo, you can see how tall Prince George is! He will totally be more tall than the Princess of Wales! I think he might be as tall his father or more! Like around 6 feet tall ( as gets older).”
Another wrote, “look how tall Prince George is next to his very tall mum,” while another wrote: “Is this the first time Prince George is standing in for Prince William? And wow, how he has grown! He will be taller than his father.”
What to Know
William is around 6 feet 3 inches tall while Kate about 5 feet 9 inches, meaning George may well have some tall genes fueling his growth spurt.
The Spencer genes may have played a part as well. Princess Diana was also tall, reportedly matching Charles’s height at 5 feet 9 inches at the time of their engagement.
Famously, photographers, seemingly worried about Charles appearing emasculated, would sometimes use tricks of the trade to make him appear taller than her.
In their engagement shoot, in 1981, they were photographed on a staircase with Charles standing on a higher step than his fiancee while some portraits also showed Diana sat down, with Charles stood behind her.
And it is not the first time George’s height has caught attention after the prince was compared to Camilla in May when he attended a tea for veterans at Buckingham Palace to mark the 80th anniversary of the Royal British Legion.
One fan on X wrote: “I don’t know if it’s just the camera angle, but either Camilla is quite short or Prince George is really tall—because in this photo, they look almost the same height and George is only 11! How tall is that boy going to be?!”
What Happens Next
George will likely be back out in public for Kate’s Together at Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey in London in December, if not before.
