Travis Hunter Predicted To Fall Out Of Top 2 In NFL Draft After Week 14
Colorado’s Travis Hunter was the best player in college football and is undoubtedly the top prospect in the 2025 NFL draft. Yet, despite his standing, Hunter is not expected to be the first one off the board based on the latest draft order.
After Week 14, the Raiders and Giants are slated to have the first two picks. Both teams desperately need a quarterback, so Travis Hunter will likely fall to the third pick, which belongs to the Patriots, if this is how the order shakes out.
In CBS Sports’ Mike Renner’s latest projections, he has Las Vegas selecting Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and New York taking Miami’s Cam Ward. Hunter slides to the Patriots. Penn State edge defender Abdul Carter goes to the Panthers, and LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell ends up with the Jaguars to round out the top 5.
This would be a dream scenario for New England, as they would get a dynamic two-way player who would provide a massive boost to a rebuilding team. Hunter could be a go-to target for quarterback Drake Maye and/or a shutdown cornerback alongside Christian Gonzalez.
Hunter, the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, played full-time as both wide receiver and cornerback for the Buffaloes. He finished top five nationally in receptions (92), receiving yards (1,152), receiving touchdowns (14), and passes defended (11).
