US: Wall Street opens higher as Powell’s speech looms large

[NEW YORK] Wall Street’s main indexes opened higher on Friday as investors awaited Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s Jackson Hole Symposium speech for insights into the interest-rate path.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 167.4 points, or 0.37 per cent, at the open to 44,952.88.

The S&P 500 rose 14.4 points, or 0.23 per cent, at the open to 6,384.59​, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 39.5 points, or 0.19 per cent, to 21,139.826 at the opening bell. REUTERS
