“Breaking Bad” house on sale for $4 million
An Albuquerque home featured in the acclaimed TV series Breaking Bad is selling for $4 million, a local outlet reported.
The popularity of the show has made the property into something of a tourist destination for many. Now, fans who can afford the price tag have the chance to make the legendary New Mexican home their own.
Newsweek has contacted the real estate agents handling the sale for comment by email.
Why It Matters
According to Redfin, in November, the median sale price of a home in Albuquerque was $340,000. Zillow showed the house—located at 3828 Piermont Dr. NE, Albuquerque—with an estimated market value of $343,100, significantly lower than the $4 million asked by its owners.
It’s not often that iconic movie or TV locations become available for sale on the market, and when they do, their price tags are often inflated by the impact the movie or TV show had on the cultural landscape.
What To Know
On Friday, KOB 4 reported that the home known to be the residence of TV character Walter White, the protagonist of Breaking Bad, was up for sale.
The home, which was built in 1972, covers 1,910 square feet and has four bedrooms, one bathroom and two parking spaces. Homeowners association fees, according to Zillow, are $69 per month. In 2023, the latest data available, owners paid $2,666 in property taxes.
An overview of the property on Zillow said: “Me and my wife Skyler have lived here for years [with] our son, Walter Junior lives here with us alongside our newborn baby. If you find bags of blue crystals in the crawlspace under the house, just ignore it, and if you find any money, turn it into the government.”
The real owners, however, are the Quintana family, who have been living in the house since they bought the property in 1973. Joanne Quintana, who grew up in the property with her siblings, told KOB 4 that the house was used only for gear and prep by the Breaking Bad producers. No scenes were filmed inside.
Despite that, the house has received constant visitors since 2008, with Quintana telling the outlet that they average “300 cars a day.”
Breaking Bad, which ran for five seasons from 2008 to 2013, told the story of a chemistry teacher turned methamphetamine manufacturer. In 2013, it entered the Guinness World Records as the most critically acclaimed TV show of all time, and in 2023, critics polled by Rotten Tomatoes ranked it among the best TV shows in the past 25 years.

What People Are Saying
Joanne Quintana told KOB 4: “This was our family home from 1973, almost 52 years. So we’re going to walk away with just our memories. It’s time to move on. We’re done. There’s no reason to fight anymore. I hope they make it what the fans want. They want a BnB, they want a museum, they want access to it. Go for it.”
Walter White’s House, the website through which the property is being sold, said: “This unforgettable property, featured prominently in a critically acclaimed television series, is now available for sale. Don’t miss the chance to own a piece of pop culture history.”
