Hearts melt as amputee dog tries so hard to obey command: "A hero"
Even without her front right leg, a determined dog has proven her loyalty and memory are stronger than ever, moving thousands of viewers on TikTok.
The video of the three-legged canine responding to the familiar command "paw" by moving her shoulder has amassed more than 1.3 million views and over 250,000 likes since it was posted to TikTok by her owner under @ami_stela on May 5.
The short clip shows the amputee sitting attentively in front of her owner, who asks her to "give paw." Despite missing the limb typically used for the trick, the canine instinctively lifts her shoulder in the air while looking relaxed and happy, attempting to follow the command as she always had.
An overlaid text on the video read: "She still gives paw every time," and a caption below the post added: "She's a hero."
While the dog's owner has not publicly disclosed why the dog had been amputated, it is clear from the TikTok account that she lives with another canine, an able-bodied greyhound.
Her gesture, captured in a quiet, poignant moment, has sparked an outpouring of affection and admiration from viewers around the world, many of whom flooded the comments section with messages of support for the dog and awe of her resilience.
