I Tried Dr. Scholl’s Reverie Ankle Boots—Here’s How Comfortable They Felt for Long Walks
They felt surprisingly comfy, even while I was dealing with foot pain.

I’ve tested a ton of walking shoes and sneakers over the years, but I have to admit: I’m actually a boot girlie through and through. I love that a pair of stylish boots can elevate any outfit—while still providing practical weather protection and coverage for those in-between fall (and spring!) days. Unfortunately, though, I’ve found that most boots are usually not comfortable or supportive enough—especially for long days of walking and standing. So, when I recently saw that Dr. Scholl’s, a shoe brand known for its comfortable footwear and orthotic insoles, offers plenty of stylish boots with arch support for the fall season, I knew I had to try a pair out myself.
Dr. Scholl’s boasts a wide range of boot styles (in addition to sneakers, loafers, and more), but the pair that caught my eye was the best-selling Reverie Ankle Bootie—a low-profile ankle boot with a low stacked block heel. They boast cushy, comfy insoles with cushioning and arch support—but would they actually be comfortable and supportive enough for all-day walking? And could they earn a permanent spot in my rotation of fall footwear?
After a month of testing, here are my honest thoughts on the Dr. Scholl’s Reverie Ankle Booties—and whether they’re worth the buy.

How I tested
I tested the Dr. Scholl’s Reverie Ankle Bootie in size 7 medium width, in the “Black” colorway. I wore these ankle boots over the past two weeks during walks around New York City—including during commutes, errand runs, and casual strolls around my neighborhood. During testing, I made sure to evaluate their overall comfort—including their fit, design, cushioning, and arch support.

Fit and design
I opted for the Reverie Ankle Booties in my regular size (size 7, medium width) and found them to run a bit on the smaller side. With my usual socks, which are a bit thicker, the shoes felt a bit too snug for my liking, including in the toe box area—though the fit did feel slightly better after I had some time to break the shoes in a little, with the upper material stretching a bit more to accommodate my feet. Overall, though, I’d recommend going up half a size, or opting for a wide size, if you prefer a roomier fit or a more spacious toe box—or if you plan to wear these shoes with thicker socks.
Despite feeling snug at first, though, I found the overall fit of these booties to be comfortable, with the microfiber upper and fabric lining (both partially made of recycled plastic bottles) feeling soft and flexible around my feet. I appreciated the zipper closure on the outer side of the shoes, as well as the stretch gore on the inner side and the pull tab at the back, which made it easier to get the shoes on and off my feet. However, I found the zipper a bit stiff and hard to zip up and down at times.
Last but not least, I really liked the style of these shoes. These casual, short ankle booties are sleek and cute, with a round toe design, metallic zipper pull detail, and a one-inch stacked block heel (which I definitely appreciated as someone who’s on the shorter side!). The boots also look great with any outfit—you can easily dress them up for a night out, or keep it casual with a pair of leggings. Not to mention, they come in chic colors; while I opted for the classic black, they’re also available in fall-ready shades like Walnut Brown and Dark Brown Faux Leather.

Cushioning and arch support
Dr. Scholl’s Reverie Ankle Booties are designed with insoles that are partially made with 15% cushy, algae-infused BLOOM foam. This insole technology features cushioning and built-in arch support, and is also treated with antimicrobial and anti-odor technology to help control sweat and neutralize odors.
When I first slipped on these booties, the cushioning didn’t feel super soft or very substantial to me—definitely not the plush, cloud-like feel I’m used to from the many sneakers I’ve tested. Surprisingly, though, the shoes still felt really comfortable on my feet, even right out of the box. Rather than feeling stiff and heavy, like many other boots I’ve tried previously, these booties felt flexible and lightweight—and when walking in them, it felt like they naturally flexed with my feet to support a smooth walking stride.
I also found the shoes’ built-in arch support to be just right and totally comfortable right out of the box—it felt moderate rather than pronounced, offering just enough support under my arches without feeling too intrusive. (That being said, the arch support may not be enough for those looking for a strongly contoured or orthotic-like feel.) The heel also had enough padding and cushioning to soften each step and keep my feet comfortable as I walked, including on hard city sidewalks, without feeling overly cushioned or bulky.

The bottom line
Overall, I found the Dr. Scholl’s Reverie Ankle Booties comfortable and supportive for everyday, casual wear, including during long periods of walking and standing. I’ve actually been experiencing some foot pain at the top of my right foot recently, so I wasn’t sure if a boot would be the right choice of footwear for me right now—but to my surprise, these shoes remained comfortable on my feet without any exacerbated pain, irritation, or blisters, even after a full day of walking and commuting on city streets and concrete.
I credit the boot’s comfort to its cushioning, arch support, and lightweight feel. Though not as plush or soft as a pair of sneakers, the booties still have a comfy layer of cushioning underfoot that feels light and flexible—plus, they offer just the right amount of moderate arch support that doesn’t feel too intrusive on your arches. Not to mention, they’re also cute and stylish, and can easily be dressed up or down with any outfit.
Ultimately, I’d recommend the Reverie Ankle Booties for anyone looking for a pair of chic, versatile ankle booties that are comfortable and supportive for everyday walks and daily, casual wear. Personally, I think they’re a worthy addition to your rotation of comfy-yet-stylish footwear for the fall season.
