Israeli air, ground forces strike terrorists who approached IDF troops beyond Yellow Line

The IDF noted that the individual posed an “immediate threat” to the troops.

Israeli air and ground forces struck a number of terrorists who crossed the Yellow Line and approached an IDF position in the southern Gaza Strip, the military said Monday afternoon.

The IDF noted that the individual posed an “immediate threat” to the troops and that, after the troops identified suspects, the Israeli forces “struck the terrorists in order to remove the threat to the troops.”

The military noted that the troops serving under the Southern Command continue to operate in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to act to confront immediate threats.

Also on Sunday, Hamas, through mediators, demanded that terrorists hidden in tunnels on the Israeli side of the Yellow Line in Rafah be given temporary immunity.

The presence of Hamas operatives beyond the Yellow Line is a violation of the ceasefire agreement between the two sides, and The Jerusalem Post learned on Monday that the IDF would block any deal to allow terrorists to move from the Israeli side back to Hamas-controlled territory.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office confirmed that no Hamas terrorists would be allowed safe passage without the promise of disarmament.
