Josh Allen makes NFL history in Bills’ win over Buccaneers

The Buffalo Bills entered Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming off their worst performance of the season the week before against the Miami Dolphins.

But behind star quarterback Josh Allen, the Bills bounced back in a big way, pulling out a 44–32 win in a game that swung back and forth for most of the afternoon as both offenses stayed hot.

Allen completed 19 of 30 passes for 317 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions, while also rushing six times for 40 yards and three more scores—essentially putting the Bills on his back.

After his sixth touchdown of the day in the fourth quarter, the Bills announced that Allen is now the only player in NFL history to record multiple games with at least three passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns in the same game.

Allen continues to be one of the NFL’s most dominant players week in and week out, even if he isn’t posting the same statistical numbers he did last season when he captured his first MVP award.

Entering Sunday’s game, he was completing over 70% of his passes with more than 2,000 yards through the air, and he’s now surpassed the 20-touchdown mark. His performance has helped Buffalo improve to 7-3 on the season, though they still trail the New England Patriots (9-2) in the AFC East.

Buffalo is now on a short week as it begins preparing for a road trip to Houston for a matchup against the Texans on Thursday Night Football.

After that, the Bills will face back-to-back AFC North opponents—the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals—before a massive Dec. 14 showdown against the Patriots in Foxborough. That game could have major implications not only on the divisional standings, but on the entire AFC playoff picture.
