Popular Tequila Brand Unveils $2,900 Italian Marble Bottle
There’s luxury, and then there’s luxury by Volcán de mi Tierra, one of the most popular tequila brands with a storied history in Mexico.
Volcán has partnered with ARCA, the world’s leading purveyor of premium natural stone, for this one-of-a-kind bottle dubbed Colección La Gavilana I. The Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy-owned (LVMH) company plans to release a new marble vessel and an exclusively crafted tequila each year.
A Masterpiece to be Admired
For the brand’s first release, the bottles are made from Bianco Carrara marble. Yes, the Carrara region of Italy, and only 1,774 bottles will be available worldwide.
“We honor our vision of Mexico through our tequila. This project remits to my family origins in Jalisco, when my ancestors settled in our Hacienda La Gavilana in 1774,” said Santiago Cortina Gallardo, CEO and co-founder of Volcán de mi Tierra, in a statement. “Partnering with a visionary agent like ARCA — whose master stonemasons share our commitment to artistry, and whose work embodies our dedication to creating something unique with Volcán — ensures the world will discover not only a beautiful bottle but also a singular tequila that stands as a testament to our craftsmanship.”
Yes, the 1,774 bottles for sale are in homage to the year that the Gallardo family settled in Jalisco at the Hacienda known as La Gavilana, with each piece uniquely and meticulously engraved with the silhouette of Volcán’s Prestige Collection bottles.
The First Añejo
Admiring the bottle’s one thing — as many did during Art Basel in Miami — but there’s also the rich agave inside of it: Volcán’s first Añejo.
Helmed by Volcán’s Master Tequilero, Marcelino Lucke, the Añejo is aged for over 18 months in European oak and finished for an additional 414 days in sherry casks, resulting in rich notes of ripe fruit, dark chocolate, and warm spice, according to Volcán.
Each bottle retails for $2,900.
