Wall Street opens higher after jobs data; tariff ruling awaited


[NEW YORK] Wall Street’s main indexes opened slightly higher on Friday (Jan 9), as investors digested weaker-than-expected jobs data, while awaiting a Supreme Court ruling on US President Donald Trump’s tariffs.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 31.3 points, or 0.06 per cent, at the open to 49,234.81.

The S&P 500 rose 6.4 points, or 0.09 per cent, to 6,927.83, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 16.2 points, or 0.07 per cent, to 23,496.211. REUTERS
